Description

A delicious treat made with Mars bars, Rice Krispies, and milk chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 Mars bars, chopped
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) square baking pan to prevent sticking and make removal of bars easier.
  2. Add the butter to a large saucepan and gently melt it over low heat, ensuring it doesn’t brown or burn.
  3. Add the chopped Mars bars to the melted butter and stir gently as they begin to melt together.
  4. Keep stirring continuously until the mixture is smooth. If the butter and chocolate separate, remove from heat and whisk until fully combined to avoid burning the mixture.
  5. Turn off the heat and immediately stir in the Rice Krispies, ensuring they are well coated (use 2 1/2 cups for gooier bars if desired).
  6. Spoon the mixture into the prepared baking pan and gently press down using a lightly greased spatula or sprayed hands to even out the surface.
  7. Place chocolate chips or chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl and melt in the microwave on medium power for 45-second intervals, stirring between intervals until smooth. Alternatively, melt in a double boiler over low heat, taking care that the water does not touch the bowl’s bottom.
  8. Evenly spread the melted chocolate over the pressed Mars bar base in the pan.
  9. Let the bars sit at room temperature for about 2 hours or until the chocolate has hardened. When the chocolate is about 80% hardened, use a thin knife to lightly score where you plan to cut the bars to prevent cracking.

Notes

  • For gooier bars, increase Rice Krispies to 2 1/2 cups.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
