Description
A simple and delicious bagel recipe using Greek yogurt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 egg (for egg wash, optional)
- Toppings (e.g., sesame seeds, everything bagel seasoning, poppy seeds) as desired
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until evenly distributed.
- Add the plain Greek yogurt to the dry ingredients. Mix until a sticky dough forms. If it feels too sticky, you can add a little more flour as needed.
- Divide the dough into about 4-6 equal parts. Roll each piece into a ball. Then, poke a hole through the center of each ball to form a bagel shape. Slightly stretch the hole to ensure it stays open while baking.
- If using, beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the top of each bagel for a golden finish. Sprinkle your desired toppings over the bagels.
- Place the bagels in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on a wire rack.
Notes
- Using Greek yogurt helps keep the bagels moist and adds protein.
- Feel free to customize toppings based on your preference.
- Ensure the hole in the center of each bagel is large enough to prevent closure during baking.
