Description

Deliciously spicy chicken wings coated in a sweet and tangy mango habanero sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings (I use split/party wings)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup diced mango
  • 12 habaneros (chopped, see notes)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Season the chicken wings with smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
  3. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper and add the wings to the pan.
  4. Bake for 20 minutes and then flip the wings.
  5. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes.
  6. While the chicken cooks, combine the ingredients for the sauce using an immersion blender or a standard high-powered blender. Taste the sauce repeatedly and make adjustments to suit your taste.
  7. Remove the chicken and place it in a large bowl. Drizzle the mango habanero sauce throughout. Reserve 1/3 of the sauce for dipping and drizzling the wings in additional sauce prior to serving.
  8. Place the sauced chicken wings back onto the sheet pan and bake for an additional 5 minutes (same temperature). Ensure the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Use a meat thermometer.
  9. If necessary, spray your air fryer basket with cooking oil to prevent sticking. Add the chicken to the air fryer basket.
  10. Air fry for 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
  11. Open the air fryer and flip the chicken. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  12. Remove the chicken and place it in a large bowl. Drizzle the mango habanero sauce throughout. Reserve 1/3 of the sauce for dipping and drizzling the wings in additional sauce prior to serving.
  13. Place the sauced chicken wings back into the air fryer. Air fry for an additional 5 minutes at 350 degrees. Ensure the chicken has reached an internal temperature of 165 degrees. Use a meat thermometer.

Notes

  • Adjust the number of habaneros based on your spice preference.
