Description

A refreshing watermelon juice perfect for hot days!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds watermelon (1 kg, chilled)
  • 1 teaspoon black salt (or lime juice)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the watermelon and remove the watermelon rind using a sharp knife. Cut the flesh roughly into 1-inch pieces.
  2. You will get approximately 26 oz (750 g) of watermelon flesh.
  3. Add the pieces to a blender or a food processor. Don’t worry about the seeds, if there are any.
  4. Tip – Some blenders are not powerful enough and they need some liquid at their base to start the blending. In this case, start by adding just a handful of watermelon pieces to the blender and blend them before adding the rest of the pieces.
  5. Blend for 10-12 seconds. Do not over-blend; otherwise, the seeds (if any) will also blend along with the pulp.
  6. Keep a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour the juice into the strainer. Press with the back of a spoon to get as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp.
  7. The watermelon I used had many seeds, so I passed the juice through a fine mesh strainer to eliminate them.
  8. If you use seedless watermelon and are okay with some pulp coming into your mouth, you can skip this process.
  9. Add black salt and mix well. Adding black salt is optional, but it gives a delicious flavor to this juice, so it is highly recommended.
  10. Pour the juice into glasses and serve. You can also refrigerate it for a few hours if the watermelon was not chilled earlier. Adding a few ice cubes to the juice before serving is also recommended.
  11. Add the watermelon pieces to the spout of the slow juice and process the juice.
  12. Add black salt or lime juice to the juice and stir well.
  13. Serve over ice.

Notes

  • Alternatives to black salt include lime juice for added flavor.
  • For a sweeter juice, use very ripe watermelon.
  • You can adjust blending time based on desired pulp consistency.
